The 7th European SINANO Summer School takes place in Bertinoro (Forlì-Cesena, Italy) October 16 − 21 2016, co-organized by the ARCES Research Center of the University of Bologna and by the Italian Inter-University Consortium for Nanoelectronics (IUNET).

The SINANO Summer School has been held in 2005, 2006, 2008, 2010, 2012 and 2014 in the framework of the SINANO, NANOSIL and NANOFUNCTION European Networks of Excellence, the "Flagship Pilot Project" Guardian Angels, the Seventh Framework Programme Collaborative Project STEEPER and the LAB4MEMS ENIAC Project bringing together European Universities, Research Institutes and Companies with expertise in advanced nano-CMOS technology, devices and simulation.

The aim of the 2016 edition of the Summer School is to further enhance the knowledge of PhD students and postdoctoral researchers in the field of modeling and reliability of electronic devices with special focus on emerging technology domains in Europe. To this purpose, the School will be organized jointly with the MIGAS School on Advanced Microelectronics-Grenoble (www.migas.inpg.fr) and students will also attend five Workshops connected to the EC road-mapping project NEREID (www.nereid-h2020.eu), focused on Nanoscale FETs, Smart Energy, Smart Sensors, Energy for Autonomous Systems and Connectivity.

The School will take place at the Summer School facility of the University of Bologna, located in Bertinoro, a picturesque medieval village with modern educational facilities and conveniently located in the hillside vicinity of Bologna (www.centrocongressibertinoro.it). The Centre is located in three large historical and monumental buildings not far from one another, forming a united complex on the top of the built up area of the ancient town, in a quiet and hospitable place, which is also particularly pleasant and peaceful. It will be provided to attendee’s full accommodation at the Bertinoro Castle. There will also be a comprehensive social program attached to the course.

Course on "Modeling of Emerging Technologies for Smart Systems"

The Course will take place on Wednesday morning, October 19th. Four lectures on modeling topics will be taught by world-class experts to provide a brief introduction to their respective fields, and facilitate understanding of the technical sessions in the five NEREID Workshops on future emerging technologies.

NEREID Workshops

The series of five focused technology-specific Domain Workshops will take place on October 17-21 with renowned international experts and invited speakers addressing main topics on Nanoscale FETs, Smart Energy, Energy for Autonomous Systems, Smart Sensors, and Connectivity.
